Does your baby have a painful latch? Concerned if they are getting enough milk? Has someone told you they do NOT have a tongue tie yet all the symptoms match up? Has your child had a functional exam to rule it out?  Maybe it is not a tie but tension from birth?  All these questions and more are answered when you attend The Feeding Clinic!!!
We also address reflux, colic, disrupted sleep, unfavorable car seat rides, as well as what does proper neurodevelopment/milestones look like under six months of age.
This clinic was designed to target feeding difficulties that may arise, whether breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Dr Sonda wanted to begin a clinic like this about 5 years before this came to fruition. Noticing that other mothers were able to progress quicker in this setting because they didn’t feel alone, not only helped moms find the support they needed, but many leave the clinic having found new friendships as well. When your family or friends unavailable to lift you up during your feeding difficulties, let us help get you on the right track.
Why a group setting?
We kindly ask that siblings and male support partners not attend so that mom is able to focus on the new baby and the other mothers feel comfortable in this setting since most mothers will be breastfeeding during the session.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Join Dr. Sonda Powell D.C. IBCLC and Amanda Trosky, LMT for chiropractic, cranial sacral, and myofacial/massage services. They have over 20 years combined experience working with moms and babies who present with feeding difficulties. Their goal is to help you get to the root cause of that painful latch, less than optimal weight gain, or unsettled nervous system. Working on releasing tightness and tension in babies may help oral motor function improving breastfeeding/bottle feeding, swallowing, spitting up and more. The Feeding Clinic allows moms to come to one appointment getting three areas of expertise in lactation assistance, chiropractic, and myofacial release.
During clinic moms can expect to go over nursing positionings, what proper latch looks like at breast or bottle, pumping and flange fittings, weighted feedings and a plan moving forward for improving the feeding experience.
GROUP ENVIROMENT
We typically hold clinic every Wednesday morning. We offer this in a small group setting with around 4 other moms.
Myofacial & Massage
Myofacial and massage are used for babies to loosen tension that may have come from the birthing process or compensation due to improper latch or tethered oral tissues causing tension. Many times we see this tension causing problems with latch, sleep, spit up, and bowel movements.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE
All babies will receive chiropractic evaluation, exercises, and adjustments as needed to help balance their nervous system.

What People Are Saying
“Going to this clinic is something all new moms should do, whether they think there are ties present or not. Our primary concerns have improved dramatically, but it’s been amazing to see how many seemingly unrelated things have improved since attending. I also found so much value in meeting other moms on the same journey and being supported by the amazing team of providers.”

“He was four weeks old and I had mastitis twice. By the second time, I could tell my supply had drastically dropped..he was getting fussy and I could tell he was loosing weight…. So we came to the feeding clinic. We identified that he wasn’t transferring milk efficiently. He was tied all over his mouth. We realized he was only transferring about an ounce per feed. Doctor Powell held my hand through it all. I was coming in constantly, doing weight checks, and by eight weeks he was a different baby. Now he is almost five months old and I am exclusively breastfeeding because of Doctor Powell and everything she has helped us through.”

“Participation in this class has been such a great opportunity for my son and me. I have struggled with nursing in the past, and I’m so grateful for the wonderful care in a very supportive enviroment. I am successfully nursing now and have gained so much confidence. I have enjoyed watching my son and the other babies in the class not just grow but thrive! This is a great class for mom and baby!”
